The Film industry relies on special effects to achieve a director’s vision and strengthen the narrative, as stories become more complex, more advanced mediums become necessary to tell these stories.
In the last decade 3D printing has facilitated the transition from modelling in the physical space to a digital space. This transition has not only revolutionized prop design it also has the potential to further advance prosthetics appliances utilizing procedural modelling and multimaterial 3D printing.
This research portfolio acts as exploration of procedural design’s capacity to create Computer Generated Objects (CGO) for use in film and analyses the role it has in the future of the special effects industry.
