This study describes a chemical investigation of 130 New Zealand sourced marine fungi, isolated from sponges, tunicates, and mangrove sediments. Through NMR and MS screening and generation of GNPS networks, three fungi were studied in detail including morphologically using SEM, and for their metabolites through chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques. Eleven compounds were isolated and identified as macrosphelide A, macrosphelide B, diketo-macrosphelide, dichlorodiaportin, nafuredin, linoleamide, palmitic acid, diorcinol, echinulin, tetrahydroauroglaucin, and flavoglaucin. Among them, the absolute configuration of macrosphelide A was determined by single-crystal XRD, diketo-macrosphelide is a new natural macrolide that has not been reported previously as a natural occurrence. Some other unidentified isomers and analogues of macrosphelide A and macrosphelide B are also proposed and discussed in this study.
