This case study has two parts to it. The first part is about a wicked problem –family violence – and an
innovative policy approach to increasing its prevention. The approach was built on an understanding
that solutions were likely to require different kinds of knowledge and resources which existed deep
in communities and much less so within government agencies, and require the time and resources to
engage with communities, and facilitate community-led action, if sustainable change was to happen.
The second part of the case deals with the design of a suitable evaluation approach to examine the
effects of the family violence prevention policy implementation in communities
