The introduction to this monographic section of Isonomia entitled ‘Democracy and Constitutionalism: Deliberative Reconciliation’ has the following objectives. First, it reconstructs the two components of constitutional democracy—that is, democracy and constitutionalism—, along with the tension that often arises between the two (I). It then argues that deliberation offers a reconciliation between democracy and constitutionalism at both the level of principles (II) and the level of institutions (III). Finally, it presents the contribution to deliberative democratic constitutionalism of each works published in this monographic section edited by Ignacio Giuffré (IV).
