Fashion has long been used as a vehicleof protest. Its ability to influence the social and environmentaljustice issues of our time is more evident and palpablenow, than ever before. As global tensions have amplified, clothing isa potent tool to signal our solidarity with the causeswe align with. This premiseunderpinsthe establishment of the practice-based fashion research project, Space Between. Aform ofdesign-activism and protest as described by Alastair Fuad –Luke (2009) and Von Busch (2012).Oriented towards addressing issues such as resource depletion, overconsumption and unethical production. The Space Between projectasks can wefind a sustainable balance for the fashion system, transformingnegative consumption and production patterns,by disrupting the product-service system? Its aim is to literally and figurativelyexplore the‘space between’ the linear ‘take, make and waste’ system,to createa less wasteful, inclusive, and just fashion system.
